In a country where a songstress is believed to suppress the world's calamities, Arietti strived to become the high priestess, the pinnacle of songstresses. Despite not being chosen as the high priestess, her long service as a songstress led to a marriage proposal from a high-ranking noble, a border count. However, without ever meeting, the engagement is broken off. It turns out the border count is in love with the woman who beat Arietti for the high priestess position. Feeling betrayed and dejected, Arietti is then sent to the border as a priestess. Disheartened, she decides that once her duties are over, she'll enjoy life with her beloved music and alcohol. This is the story of a slightly mature and capable songstress getting revenge on the wicked high priestess and finding happiness.
