Vil Craft, a blacksmith and the protagonist, is robbed of his new shop and fiancée by his brother on the eve of his wedding. Despite working tirelessly in his dead father's stead, Vil is betrayed and enraged by this cruel treatment.

"I don't care anymore! I'm leaving!"

He decides to leave the capital and live as he pleases. His brother, who drove Vil away, would later learn:

"Vil-sama maintained the town's barrier and the Hero's holy sword. Aside from making 9999 A-rank weapons a day."

His former fiancée, a merchant, would also learn:

"We traded because we could buy Vil-sama's weapons. Without him, we will no longer trade with your merchant guild."
