"Wow! It's a success!"
"We did it!"
Amidst the severe dizziness that made me crouch down, many people were shouting around me.
(What? What happened?)
I was just watering the plants on the balcony a moment ago. My brothers are coming over soon.
"Someone, help. I'm dizzy."
Even though I called out, no one responded. Maybe my voice was too small. But I couldn't raise my voice because I felt so sick.
The excited men were hugging and shaking hands. They were all foreigners, and they were dressed in strange clothes. Looking down, I saw that the floor where I was crouching was adorned with complex patterns drawn in white lines.
"Welcome to our kingdom of Holdar, Holy Maiden!"
A handsome young man with a good appearance extended his hand to help me up. Still dizzy, I took his hand and stood up.
"Just as the seer predicted, you have black eyes and black hair!"
"Holy Maiden, may I ask your name?"
The people around me fell silent and looked at me. Huh? What? Name? Holy Maiden?
"My name is Ayukawa Haru. My first name is Haru, and my last name is Ayukawa."
"Haru-sama, it is a great honor to have you here. Our entire kingdom welcomes you!"
No, wait a moment. Can you explain the situation? As I looked around, my eyes met those of a middle-aged man who looked like he must have been quite handsome in his youth.
The middle-aged man called out to the handsome young man holding my hand.
"Eldred, don't rush. The Holy Maiden is confused. First, explain the situation to her."
"You're right, Father. I got carried away with excitement."
The handsome man called Eldred offered me a chair. Phew, finally, I can sit down.
"Haru, I am King Wilfred Argain Holdar. This is Prince Eldred."
King? Prince?
Is this some kind of prank? But, is this real?
From there, the middle-aged man called the Chancellor explained the situation.
"Our kingdom of Holdar is ruled by wizards. A year ago, a seer who predicts our kingdom's future foresaw a great calamity. It is said that this calamity will overturn the very foundation of our kingdom."
"Ah."
"To prevent this calamity, the summoner Victor called you from another world, Haru-sama."
Called me? Where am I? Where is the kingdom of Holdar?
"Wait, special powers? I don't have any. I'm just a normal person. Did you call the wrong person? If you called the wrong person, can you send me back?"
For a moment, the Chancellor's face showed irritation, but he quickly resumed his friendly smile. This guy is scary. He reminds me of the power-harassing manager in my company.
And that Victor guy, he looks like he's about to collapse.
"Now, now, there's no need to rush. Your powers will become clear in due time. For now, please rest..."
The Chancellor's words were cut off.
Victor fell to the hard floor with a thud. Did he hit his head? I heard the sound of his head hitting the floor, right?
The conversation was temporarily interrupted, and I was led to a luxurious room. Even while drinking tea, there was a back-and-forth of "We need you to save the country" and "No, no, I can't."
How anxious are these people?
Both sides were at a loss, and I was advised to rest for the time being.
I would like that. First, I need to be alone.
The women in long maid uniforms undressed me and changed me into a fine nightgown, then told me to lie down in bed.
At first, there were many maids, but when I got into bed, all but one left. The one who remained was a calm woman, about the same age as me, around twenty-five.
"Um..."
"Yes!"
"May I ask your name?"
"My name is Sherry, Holy Maiden."
"Sherry, I'm not sleepy yet. Can I ask you some questions? And please call me Haru."
"Yes, Haru-sama, if there's anything I can help with, please ask."
However, Sherry didn't know much. She only knew that I was called according to the seer's prophecy.
"What kind of great calamity is it?"
"Even the seer doesn't know."
"What do you think of when you hear 'great calamity'?"
Sherry placed her fingertips delicately to her cheek and thought.
"Well, for me, it would be something like a heavy rain, a great flood, a great storm, or a rampage of monsters."
I must have been called by mistake. What can a Japanese office lady do about such things? Monsters are out of the question.
"I think this is a mistake. I'll talk to the important people tomorrow."
"I'll inform the Chancellor of that."
"By the way, you said this country is ruled by wizards. Can you use magic...?"
I stopped mid-sentence as Sherry gracefully moved her hand toward the window. The thick curtains moved quietly and closed.
Wow, for real?
It wasn't an automatic sensor. Beautiful, tiny, golden, star-like particles flowed from Sherry's fingertips and flew toward the curtains.
Then, Sherry directed her hand toward the lighting fixture, moving her fingers like a conductor.
The chandelier on the ceiling turned off, and a gentle light lit up the small bedside lamp. The golden particles were absorbed into the target and disappeared.
Magic really exists...
"You must be tired. Please rest well. There are guards outside the door, so if you need anything, just call them, and I'll come immediately."
"Okay."
Sherry bowed gracefully and left. I flopped onto the bed but quickly sat up.
No, no, no. I can't sleep now! I can't prevent a great calamity.
If they realize I'm the wrong person and useless, what will they do to me? Punish me? No, they wouldn't do that, right? Right?
Most importantly, will they send me back to my world? My brothers are coming over.
I was in a daze for a while, but I must have been tired because I fell asleep without realizing it.
