Jiang Fan did not speak. He leaned the broom against the edge of the bed, extended his right hand, and made a sword finger gesture, drawing a few strokes over the child’s heart as if writing something. He also muttered some words, but his voice was so low that no one could hear clearly.
Finally, Jiang Fan withdrew his hand and smiled, saying, "That’s it. In ten minutes, the body temperature will return to normal."
Everyone present was filled with doubt. The child had a high fever of 42 degrees that wouldn’t subside, even with injections, medication, and ice packs. Could it really be cured just by drawing a few strokes? No one believed it!
Dean Zhao asked skeptically, "Xiao Jiang, you’re making it too mysterious. Will this work?"
Jiang Fan smiled and replied, "Dean Zhao, whether it works or not, we’ll know soon!"
Li Hanyan looked at Jiang Fan with a half-smile, not believing that his method could reduce the child’s fever. After so many years in medicine, she had never heard of such a method for reducing a fever. If it were that simple, why would the world need injections and medications?
Time passed second by second, and everyone watched the child in the bed. Dean Zhao kept checking his watch. One minute left, thirty seconds, time’s up!
"Mom, I want to drink water!" The child opened his eyes and sat up.
"The child is awake!" Liang Yan exclaimed excitedly.
Feeling the child’s forehead, the mother said joyfully, "The fever is gone, the forehead isn’t hot anymore!"
"Quick, check the temperature!" Dean Zhao said.
"38.2 degrees!" Liang Yan said, holding the thermometer.
"It’s down!" Dean Zhao breathed a sigh of relief, his heart finally at ease.
"It’s fine now, I’m going out!"
"Doctor Jiang, thank you!" The child’s mother hadn’t finished her thanks when Jiang Fan had already left the ward.
Jiang Fan sat in the on-duty room, picked up a newspaper, and was about to read it when the door opened, and Li Hanyan and Zhang Xiaolei entered the on-duty room.
"How did the child’s temperature drop? What principle is this based on?" Li Hanyan asked coldly.
Jiang Fan put down the newspaper and smiled, "This is a secret. I don’t tell it to just anyone."
"What conditions do you want?" Li Hanyan asked coldly.
"Two conditions. First, you become my girlfriend. Second, I become your boyfriend." Jiang Fan chuckled.
"Boring! I’m not interested in a man like you. Change the conditions!" Li Hanyan’s face darkened, and her eyes showed disdain.
"Aren’t you starting to get interested in me now?" Jiang Fan laughed.
"Like a toad lusting after a swan. Jiang Fan, look at yourself. Do you even deserve it?" Zhang Xiaolei sneered.
"I want the toad to eat the swan. If the swan is willing to let the toad eat, what can you do about it?" Jiang Fan retorted.
"I really am not interested in you. Change the conditions!" Li Hanyan said coldly, crossing her arms, looking domineering. It was clear that she wouldn’t give up until Jiang Fan revealed the reason.
"Alright, just kiss me here, and I’ll tell you the principle." Jiang Fan pointed to his cheek.
"Pervert!" Li Hanyan scolded.
"Is this perverted? Didn’t you study abroad in the UK? Foreigners love kissing cheeks, right? This is quite refined!" Jiang Fan smiled.
"Change the conditions!" Li Hanyan said angrily.
"This is my final condition. It’s up to you. If you want to know the answer, agree to the conditions. Otherwise, forget it!" Jiang Fan picked up the newspaper and continued reading.
"Li Jie, forget it, let’s go!" Zhang Xiaolei said angrily.
Li Hanyan turned to leave but stopped at the door. She was a very persistent person, especially passionate about medicine. If she didn’t know the principle, she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight!
"Alright, I agree to your conditions."
Li Hanyan walked to Jiang Fan, bent down, and quickly kissed his cheek. As she bent down, Jiang Fan saw the peaks of her chest under her black bra, the stark contrast of black and white. His blood boiled, and he immediately set up a tent.
Seeing Jiang Fan’s reaction, Li Hanyan’s cheeks turned red. "Pervert! You can speak now!"
The lingering scent on his face, that faint fragrance, made Jiang Fan’s heart flutter.
"Alright, the answer is: I can’t tell you!" Jiang Fan laughed.
"Despicable and shameless!" Li Hanyan angrily threw her hands and turned to leave.
"Ha ha, such a little woman! Can’t even take a joke!" Jiang Fan shook his head.
Li Hanyan stopped, turned around, her eyes full of anger, and her arms crossed. "Speak quickly. I’m not as boring as you!"
"Human beings have three souls and six spirits. The three souls are stored in the heart, and the six spirits are stored in the head, between the eyebrows, the throat, the heart, the Shenque, and the Huiyin. When a person is frightened, they lose their soul and spirit, especially children. Once the soul and spirit are lost, the body’s energy and spirit become abnormal. Some people go mad, while others have a persistent high fever and fall into a coma."
"The child was frightened by a dog, and the soul stored in his heart fell, causing him to fall into a coma and have a persistent high fever. I used the Maoshan talisman to retrieve his soul, so the child returned to normal." Jiang Fan smiled.
"Is this traditional Chinese medicine? Why didn’t I see you give injections or prescribe medication?" Li Hanyan asked, puzzled.
"This is the second question. Since you kissed me, I’ll give you the answer. Talismans can be considered traditional Chinese medicine, or they can be considered not. Talismans originated in the time of the Yellow Emperor and were widely used in China for thousands of years, known for treating diseases that could not be cured by needles and drugs. With the passage of time, talismans gradually became lost and are even on the verge of extinction." Jiang Fan explained.
"Talismans?" Li Hanyan repeated softly. She had studied traditional Chinese medicine but had never heard of talismans curing diseases. A 42-degree fever, cured just by drawing a few strokes, without injections or medication, was too incredible!
Li Hanyan looked at the man in front of her. In her eyes, Jiang Fan was just an ordinary intern, but his performance today made her feel that this man was full of mystery!
"What, are you interested in this toad now?" Jiang Fan laughed.
Li Hanyan’s face changed, and she said coldly, "Hmph, a dog’s mouth can’t spit out ivory! Xiaolei, let’s go!"
Li Hanyan turned to leave. "Don’t be so angry, it will cause menstrual irregularities!" Jiang Fan laughed.
Li Hanyan turned back in surprise, "How do you know I have menstrual irregularities?"
Indeed, Li Hanyan’s menstrual cycle was never regular. Sometimes it came once a month, sometimes every two months, and sometimes every three months, and she had severe abdominal pain. As a gynecologist, she was at a loss, having taken many medications without any effect.
Jiang Fan smiled mysteriously, "The Maoshan talisman emphasizes listening to sounds and observing colors. Your voice is cold and hard, your cheeks are green, and you have a lot of anger. The Sanyinjiao point must be blocked, leading to insufficient blood and qi in the uterus, yin excess, and yang deficiency, causing menstrual irregularities. This is the cause of the problem."
