I put the egg in my pocket and returned to Roa.
"Cracking eggs is difficult, you know."
But I am a fine five-year-old, so I can crack eggs.
I was tapping the pointed end of the egg against the hard part of the bed when Daru came over.
"Whaf~?"
Daru was offering to take over if I failed.
He seemed ready to lick up any raw egg that might fall on the floor to hide the evidence.
"Okay, if it comes to that, I'll count on you, alright?"
"Wafu"
Daru was enthusiastic, drooling from the mouth.
"…Do you want to eat it too, Daru?"
"Wa, waf?"
Daru was saying, "Not at all," but he clearly looked like he wanted to eat it.
"Hmm? Did I crack it well?"
"…Wafu"
I managed to crack only the pointed end of the egg. Daru looked a bit disappointed.
"Do you want to eat one, Daru?"
"Wawa"
Daru was saying to give it to Roa. Despite being young, Daru is a kind dog.
"Okay, if there's any left, I'll give it to you later?"
I returned to Roa and brought the cracked egg close to her mouth.
"Roa, here's the egg."
"Rya? Rya-mu-rya-mu"
Roa held the egg firmly with both hands.
Then, she put her face halfway into the egg and started licking it.
"You seem to like eggs, don't you?"
Sara, who was holding Roa, said.
"Yeah, she's really into it."
Roa, who was eating the egg enthusiastically, suddenly froze.
"What's wrong?"
"Rya-mu?"
Roa offered the egg to Daru.
Roa seemed to be saying, "It's delicious, so you should eat it."
"Wa, waf"
Daru was understandably surprised.
Roa is like a hungry baby, and eggs are her favorite food.
Yet, she was offering it to Daru.
She must have noticed that Daru also likes eggs from his earlier movements.
"Roa, it's okay. We still have eggs."
"Rya-a?"
"See?"
I took the eggs out of my pocket.
"We have three more. Roa, you can eat these."
"Rya-mu~"
"Daru, you should eat this one. If Daru doesn't eat, Roa will find it hard to eat too."
"Waf!"
Daru happily took the egg in his mouth, cracked the shell, and ate it.
"Wow. Daru, you eat the shell too?"
Sara was a bit taken aback.
"Waf?"
Daru seemed to be saying, "The shell is delicious too?"
After that, Roa ate a lot of food.
When she finished, Roa burped and moved to look at the lake intently.
"Since yesterday… Roa has been interested in the lake?"
Whenever Roa moves to the window and tries to go outside, she always looks at the lake.
I also moved to the window and picked up Roa.
"Rya-a"
Roa looked at the lake sadly and then hugged me tightly.
I still feel an ominous presence from the lake.
"Still, I feel something from the lake."
"Luria, what do you feel?"
"What do you feel?"
"I don't know. It's hard to put into words."
"I'll ask the goats later, just in case…"
"Please do. It's worrying me."
After crying for a while, Roa started to sleep soundly.
"Maybe she's sleepy after eating so much?"
"Yeah, she's so cute. Hehe, hehe"
I laid Roa on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
I put the leftover food in the dresser.
There was still about half of the mealworms left, enough for lunch.
When Roa fell asleep, the birds flew away, looking relieved.
Then, I, Sara, Daru, Caro, Korko, and Kuro lay down on the bed.
While lying down, I started to feel sleepy. It must be because we moved around a lot.
Probably after a few minutes, I woke up to the voice of a maid from outside the room.
"Misses, breakfast is ready."
"Mu? Mu-mu! I'll get up right away!"
I jumped out of bed.
"I'll wake Sara up, so you go ahead."
"Understood."
After confirming that the maid had left, I woke everyone up.
"Roa. Luria and the others are going to eat breakfast."
"Rya-mu"
"Can you keep watch?"
"Rya-a~"
"It's okay. I'll definitely come back. Kuro, can you help?"
"Sure. Roa, Luria will be back soon, so don't worry."
"Rya-mu~?"
"Luria is going to eat breakfast. If she doesn't eat, she'll be hungry."
"Rya!"
"Can you keep watch?"
"Rya~"
"I can do it."
Kuro was gently petting Roa.
"Roa, wait a little longer."
"Rya"
"Kuro, Korko, Caro… please take care of Roa."
I was a bit worried about leaving Roa's babysitting to Kuro alone.
Kuro is reliable, but he doesn't have a physical body.
"Korko," "Kyu!"
"Korko and Caro's food, Luria will bring it back, okay?"
"Ko," "Kyu"
"If someone comes, Roa should hide in the dresser."
"Rya," "Ko," "Kyu-kyu"
I opened the dresser a bit so Roa could get in.
When Roa hides, Caro and Korko will close it for her.
"Let's leave the window open."
If something happens, the owls can help.
