Chapter 51

The day after I gained the ability to freely produce water, His Highness Marks and Gil came to the farm.

"Alesia, I heard you came to the palace and I was worried."

"When I reported that Alesia was acting strange, His Highness got worried."

His Highness gave Gil a sharp look, but Gil pretended not to notice.

"Um, there's something I wanted to ask about Eitana. But that's fine now. I have something to report to His Highness. I've become a mage."

"…You became a mage?"

"Yesterday, I suddenly gained the ability to freely produce water. So I plan to register as a mage in the country."

"Registration is understood. How much water can you produce?"

"Um, I think quite a lot. Would you like to see?"

"Ah, yes, please."

The five of us—my parents, His Highness, Gil, and I—headed to the wasteland outside.

"Then, I'll show you. …Water, appear."

Raising both hands and chanting, a large mass of water appeared in the air with that sound. I consciously shaped the water mass into a sphere and looked at His Highness, who was gaping in surprise. Spreading my hands vigorously to the sides, the water mass split into a dozen large water orbs that floated and swayed gently.

"This is… magic, isn't it?"

With a splash, I dropped the water orbs and chanted, "Rain, fall." A gentle rain began to fall around us.

"By the way, I forgot to mention, but I think this water has healing properties."

"Healing properties? Oh no! Alesia, that's a waste! Stop, stop! It's a waste!"

Gil's panicked cry, which had been stunned until then, was so funny that I couldn't help but laugh.

"Even just the ability to produce water is an incredible power, and all of it has healing properties? Alesia, you…"

His Highness put his hand to his forehead and thought deeply.

"His Highness, I want to stop running and hiding. I want to relieve my parents of their long-term worries and be of more help to the people of this country. So, I will register. Can you protect us?"

His Highness took a deep breath, looked at me and my parents, and answered firmly.

"Yes, of course. Alesia, can you come to the palace now? The sooner, the better. I need to report to my father and the others about the incredible mage that has been born."

"Yes. I will come with pleasure!"

The palace was as crowded as ever. Everyone was looking at me as I walked with His Highness and Gil protecting me. I hope they don't think I'm being dragged away.

I was led to a luxurious room, and after a while, the Emperor, His Highness, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Internal Affairs gathered.

I introduced myself and explained that I had gained the ability to use water magic, and that the water likely had healing properties. The men asked me one question after another.

"Did it suddenly happen at age fourteen?"

"What kind of healing effect does it have?"

"How wide an area can you make it rain?"

"How much water can you produce at once?"

They were surprised just by me producing water in a glass, but when I said I could produce enough water to fill this room several times, the room fell silent. I had experienced this before, at six years old in my previous life, so I smiled and quietly concluded, "It's like this."

"However, when I'm too tired, mentally down, or suffering, this might not be the case. I can't guarantee that."

This was a safety measure for any eventuality.

"Your Majesty, this is… the reincarnation of Aura."

"I thought the literature on Aura was exaggerated, but it seems to be true based on what I see."

Then, I went to the palace again and explained in detail about the healing properties.

His Highness warned me not to mention Silk yet, as he was worried that if the information leaked, there might be a fight over Silk.

"I have registered with the country, so please protect my parents and the people at the farm. I am worried about the future because I have caught the attention of Prince Helrod."

Everyone was shocked to hear this.

"Your Majesty! What do you mean? I only received a report that a farm boy was injured."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs was upset, apparently not having been told the details.

"I stopped it. I had security quietly guarding the farm before that. Alesia's situation was kept secret. Until now, Alesia could only make it rain in her sleep, not freely produce water. I didn't want to cause a commotion that might stop the rain. However, the Kingdom of Faril already has information about Alesia's rain. They don't know about its effects yet, but they will eventually."

"We need to take immediate action."

We decided to adjourn for the time being.

I was successfully registered as a mage, and the farm was assigned permanent security. I was prepared to be noticed by the neighbors.

About a week later, an incident occurred that made me think it was a good thing I had registered and become a protected subject.
