Chapter 5

Aki and Isato, who had only known each other through the game, found themselves in a world that seemed to closely resemble the game "Retro Fantasy Chronicle." After a series of events, they ended up in a small village called Karat, which neither of them recognized. The village was on the eastern edge of a desert, and the villagers, who rarely saw adventurers, were quite excited to see them.

After settling into their rooms at the inn, Aki and Isato began to discuss their situation. They realized that if this was indeed the world of RFC, they had a good chance of surviving, given their experience and knowledge. However, if it was a different world, their knowledge and abilities might not be as useful.

Isato shared a story from her past, about a time when she accidentally stepped on a snake and was bitten. Despite the shock, she managed to stay calm and handle the situation. This story helped Aki understand that humans can adapt to unexpected situations without panicking, which might explain why they were both so calm in this new world.

As they continued to talk, Aki learned that Isato's real name was Iri Kukou, a well-known author of shoujo manga. This revelation was a surprise, but it also helped them build a stronger bond.

Later that night, they were awakened by a commotion. The innkeeper's daughter, Armit, rushed to their rooms, warning them that thieves were attacking the village. Aki and Isato quickly armed themselves and joined the villagers in their attempt to escape.

In the chaos, Aki witnessed a thief brutally kill Armit. Overcome with anger, he was about to strike the thief with his greatsword when Isato intervened, reminding him not to kill. Isato then summoned a powerful wolf, Fenrir, to protect the innkeeper and her daughter as they fled.

Aki and Isato then focused on fighting the thieves. Aki, who had a tendency to lose his temper, was surprised by his own readiness to kill. Isato, on the other hand, remained calm and strategic, using her staff to incapacitate the thieves without causing fatal harm.

As they continued to fight, they encountered a mysterious man in a black robe. This man was unlike the other thieves, displaying an unsettling presence and unusual abilities. Aki, realizing the danger this man posed to Isato, decided to confront him. Despite his best efforts, the man managed to evade Aki's attacks and escape into a burning building.

Aki, frustrated and concerned, realized that this world was more dangerous than he initially thought. He and Isato continued to work together, adapting to the challenges they faced, and Aki began to understand that Isato, despite her calm demeanor, was a complex and capable person.

In the end, Aki and Isato's journey in this new world was just beginning, and they knew they would need to rely on each other to survive.
