Chapter 078: To Manage or Not to Manage

For ordinary people, they might not notice the killing aura emanating from a girl, but as a fellow practitioner, Lin Yi could keenly sense it. This could also be considered a form of sixth sense.
However, while Lin Yi had noticed her, she had not noticed him.
Through years of training, Lin Yi had become adept at concealing his own killing aura. However, very few people had reached his level.
In the end, Lin Yi shook his head. The girl's attire clearly indicated that she did not want to draw attention to herself. Although she was injured, Lin Yi did not intend to help her. He believed in minding his own business. Even if she was a fellow practitioner, they would not want to be disturbed by others while on a mission. Moreover, practitioners often belonged to different organizations, and they might even be enemies.
"Excuse me, what is Jin Chuang Yao?" Lin Yi casually asked the salesperson.
The salesperson was taken aback and then looked at Lin Yi as if he were an idiot, as if his question was incredibly naive. She was too disdainful to answer: "Of course, it's a topical medicine for treating injuries. But we're out of stock."
Lin Yi smiled bitterly. It seemed to be a new and popular drug.
However, before Lin Yi could say anything, an old lady beside him started chattering away, eager to answer his question.
"Young man, you don't know Jin Chuang Yao? Have you heard of Doctor Kang? He's a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner from a family of doctors, a towering figure in the field of traditional Chinese medicine!" The old lady began to recount Doctor Kang's achievements as if reciting a list: "Jin Chuang Yao is a rapid healing medicine developed by Doctor Kang. It can quickly heal wounds and leave no scars! Isn't that amazing?"
"Really that amazing?" Lin Yi was surprised. He didn't expect Doctor Kang to be so skilled, almost on par with the healing medicines he had formulated himself.
"Yes, it's said to be a family secret recipe. Jin Chuang Yao is primarily supplied to the military. Due to production limitations, it is only periodically and in small quantities supplied to civilian pharmacies, making it very scarce!" The old lady explained: "If you want to buy it from a pharmacy, it's almost impossible. My niece's boyfriend's third sister's fifth cousin is the supply manager of the XX chain pharmacy. I managed to get a bottle through his connections last time. They say it's all sold internally as soon as it arrives, never even making it to the shelves!"
"Is that so?" Lin Yi was taken aback, unsure if the old lady was telling the truth.
"Of course! Do you think I'm lying to you?" The old lady said with a condescending tone.
"Oh, I see! Thank you, but I don't think I'll need it for now." Lin Yi smiled at the old lady.
"Right, a young man like you wouldn't need it!" The old lady nodded, clearly misunderstanding Lin Yi's words. Lin Yi meant that he could formulate the medicine himself and didn't need to buy it.
Lin Yi didn't bother to explain and turned to the herbal medicine counter. The herbs he needed had already been weighed and placed in sealed bags according to their types.
Lin Yi carefully inspected them and found that two of the herbs seemed to have been stored for too long and had deteriorated, significantly reducing their effectiveness. With no other choice, he had to buy more to compensate.
He also checked the tools and equipment he needed for formulating the medicine, ensuring there were no issues before carefully packing them and leaving the pharmacy.
These days, both traditional Chinese and Western medicines were selling well, but loose herbs were not as popular in pharmacies. Few people bought them, which was why Lin Yi could quickly finish his purchases and leave the pharmacy.
After leaving the pharmacy, Lin Yi didn't plan to go directly to school. Since he had already missed class, it didn't matter whether he went or not. He had already bought all the measuring tools and equipment needed for formulating the medicine. Lin Yi intended to find a place to prepare the medicine first.
He couldn't do this at school, and certainly not at Chu Mengyao's villa, as the smell of traditional Chinese medicine would drive the two girls crazy! The best option was to rent a hotel room, finish the task, and leave.
With this idea in mind, Lin Yi didn't rush to school but instead wandered around the pharmacy, looking for a suitable hotel to rent a room.
"Hmm?" At a sparsely populated alley entrance, Lin Yi saw the girl from the pharmacy. She was lying on the ground, a pool of fresh blood beneath her.
Lin Yi frowned. He didn't want to get involved in other people's affairs, but in such a deserted alley, who would dare to help? If he failed to save her and she died, he would only invite unnecessary trouble!
Lin Yi hesitated. As someone with a mission, he shouldn't meddle in other people's affairs. Moreover, in his line of work, one must be prepared to sacrifice at any time. Although Lin Yi knew that if he didn't help her, she would likely die from blood loss.
However, sometimes Lin Yi really couldn't help it, especially with matters that were clearly troublesome and not his concern. The girl clearly wasn't an ordinary person, and this was one trouble he couldn't afford to get into.
Biting his lip, Lin Yi quickly walked past the girl, casting a pitying glance at her as he passed. He hoped she could survive on her own and then hurried away.
However, after a few steps, Lin Yi suddenly stopped. Wait!
That glance had revealed something familiar, but he couldn't be sure.
Lin Yi turned around and walked back to the girl, crouching down and staring intently at a ring on her right little finger.
When he saw the pattern on the ring, Lin Yi sighed. He quickly felt her wrist and found a pulse. Carefully, he lifted her from the ground and carried her on his back.
Although the girl had fainted from blood loss, she still had some instinctive reactions when Lin Yi carried her, subconsciously struggling a bit, perhaps a reflex to external threats.
Seeing no one around, Lin Yi quickened his pace, carrying the girl back in the direction he had come from.
