Chapter 9

2 min read565 words

Since childhood, I've always had mixed feelings about my younger sister.

But ever since my fiancé was stolen from me, every time I see her, I feel so miserable that I want to die.

"Do you really feel so sorry, Onee-sama? But, but I've always, always wanted him!"

"William took my hand, but I know you like him, Onee-sama."

"I want to get along well with William from now on, but I won't take him from you! ...So, so, will you forgive me?"

I can't forget her shrill voice, dripping with a sense of superiority that she couldn't hide. Her face, so similar to mine, twisted in mockery, and a wave of disgust swirled in my heart. I couldn't understand a single word she was saying.

Knowing that I loved him, she seduced and stole my fiancé. And now, with the same mouth that seduced someone else's fiancé, she's asking for forgiveness without even apologizing? I wish she would stop kidding around!

But what hurt the most was that I couldn't say anything in response.

"Not take from Onee-sama? Of course, that's true."

My sister is only interested in things that belong to others. I only recently realized that this applies to people as well, but it seems the more someone cherishes something, the more she wants it.

In other words, the fact that I care about my fiancé is the most important thing to her. She wants him because he is "my fiancé," and I'm sure her interest will fade the moment he becomes hers. I can't understand this feeling at all.

"I am Olivia Roseberry! You are Duke Ilvys Lambert, aren't you?"

When I finally saw my sister face-to-face after a long time, she seemed to have a better complexion than before. She must have felt good seeing me so crushed.

"Oh, you're back from your morning walk, Olivia."

My sister was dressed as if she had just returned from outside. While that was true, Mother quickly made excuses before my sister could say anything strange.

Well, for an unmarried lady without a fiancé to come home in the morning is nothing but a scandal. If she thought that, she should have dealt with the matter of my fiancé more seriously. I averted my gaze, assuming my sister would follow this advice, but I saw something terrible.

"I never thought I would meet you, Your Grace, in my own home! What a wonderful day this is!"

"Olivia..."

The words "Are you kidding me?" stuck in my throat.

Her hungry, animal-like gaze was fixed on Ilvys, and she was openly fawning over him. Her already daringly low-cut dress was further emphasized by her pose, making it hard for even me, a woman, to look directly at her. Her already grating, high-pitched voice had reached a pitch that made me want to cover my ears.

I felt my cheek twitch.

My sister, who had always said she wanted me to have a fiancé, now seemed to have set her sights on Ilvys. Even now, she's smiling sweetly, but she might be planning how to get Ilvys. No, she definitely is.

My sister's intense, appraising gaze reveals her true feelings.

Ah, how disgusting.

Overwhelmed by a mix of guilt and disgust, I wanted to faint right there. Honestly, I felt like running away, but I can't be so irresponsible since I'm the one who involved Ilvys.
