Fake 97: A New Ordeal

Replacing the same wind type skill, [Wind Cutter], the newly imitated [Wind Wheel] was added in the skill slot.

The number of a skill’s usable-times is roughly inversely proportional to the power of the skill.

The maximum skill usable-limit of [Wind Wheel] was 4.

This number was just next to that of [Voltaic Fire], which was 3.

It seemed like [Wind Wheel] was a more powerful skill than I thought.

On one hand, my skill usable-times has lessened considering [Wind Cutter] had a skill usable-limit of 7. On the other hand, I supposed I had acquired a skill that could potentially be used against high rank monsters.

After that, survivor requests came in almost every day.

And I started getting regular contacts from Tounagi-san as well. The contents were nothing serious and mostly easy-going, trivial matters.

It seemed unlikely that other survivors were constantly slacking off since New Year, so I am not sure. But I don’t know if the monster appearance rate in this area is originally high or if it started increasing just recently.

Since I did spend nearly a hundred million yen on my equipment, I am almost grateful for the fact that there were many requests to make it back. However, there is one problem.

That is the final examination……

It would be no exaggeration to say that the most important test in a school year, the final examination, is drawing near.

I am also attending classes with more focus than usual, so I think my learning abilities have improved compared to before.

The problem is the promise I made with Aoi. Rather than saying I made that promise, it was more like Aoi one-sidedly made me do it.

Aim for top 30 in our grade in the next test.

That target is not just a goal solely to aim for, but a requirement that must be met, given Aoi’s personality.

That means I have to reach within top 30 at any cost.

Previously, I ranked 54th in my grade. It could be said that I had done a good job getting that grade, despite having barely studied until just before the test. However, there were bloody overnight cramming sessions behind that ranking.

I am afraid any more of such cramming sessions are impossible for me. At that time, my motivation switch was flipped and there was also a strange tension, which enabled me to do my best. Nonetheless, those overnight cramming sessions of Aoi’s were too much even when I think about it now.

However, in order to safely reach top 30 in my grade with my own ability, the reemergence of those ‘wondrous’ cramming sessions is a necessity.

My heart started creaking. My body displayed a strong rejection.

“Rin-kun, it is almost the final exam. Rin-kun is always working hard on your studies, so I can expect good results this time.”

“Yes, of course. It won’t be like the previous time, so please be at ease.”

“Yes, I believe in Rin-kun, so it is okay. Let’s do our best studying this time as well.”

Aoi is cheering on me with a pure smile, which is clear of any doubts.

There is no way I can betray this smile.

Even if my heart and body don’t like it, for the last spurt, I will use my determination and willpower to spend almost all night studying for this exam as well.
