Chapter 6

Sun Lili is from out of town. She attended university in Jiangsong City and stayed there to work after graduation. However, due to her non-prestigious school and her non-mainstream major, she had a hard time finding a job initially. After several setbacks, she ended up working as a bartender in a relatively reputable bar. The pay wasn't high, but it was enough to cover her rent and basic living expenses.

Most of the bar work is after 5 PM, and during the summer, it starts at 7 PM and ends around 2 or 3 AM. Despite the hard night shifts, Sun Lili, a girl who had moved to the south, cherished her job. Every night, she would drag her tired body back home and fall into bed. Today was no exception, but a phone call woke her from her sleep.

The call was from Chen Mo. Sun Lili hurried out of her home and rushed to the High-tech Zone Police Station. On the way, she kept wondering why Chen Mo was at the police station. Chen Mo didn't give many details over the phone, just asking her to come to the police station. Sun Lili was a bit anxious. She cared deeply for Chen Mo, even though they had no blood relation. She treated him like a younger brother.

Sun Lili lived in an apartment building directly across from Chen Mo's family. After graduation, she had always lived there. Chen Mo's parents were very kind and helpful, and they took good care of her. The most touching thing for Sun Lili was when she forgot her own birthday, but Chen Mo's mother cooked a bowl of longevity noodles and waited for her to come home from her night shift. Eating the warm noodles and the tender egg, Sun Lili couldn't hold back her tears and fell into Chen Mo's mother's arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

In this unfamiliar city, with no family or friends, the feeling of being cared for was truly a warm and indescribable comfort.

Since then, Sun Lili and the Chen family became very close, and she took extra care of Chen Mo. After Chen Mo's parents went missing a year ago, Sun Lili was extremely worried and even cried several times. Since then, she paid even more attention to Chen Mo, who had no parents. If it weren't for the fact that Chen Mo still had a place to live, she would have let him move in with her...

"Chen Mo's family background is probably ordinary, but I need to confirm that. I really don't understand why he would get involved with people like Zhao Hongjun and Chen Siyao. However, since he beat up two of Zhao Hongjun's bodyguards, Zhao Hongjun won't let it go. He will definitely come after him. If I can secretly observe and catch such an opportunity, and then bring Zhao Hongjun to the police station, I'll see how my uncle can scold me. But I need to be careful and not make any mistakes. If it weren't for the gunshots in a public place, which violated the rules, I would have argued with my uncle. Alas, who can blame me for making a mistake? I lack the confidence to argue, and I missed the chance. But it's okay, there will be other opportunities. I will prove to my uncle that the law is equal for all, and there should be no special privileges!" Zhou Yaping sat in her office, her eyes looking forward but not really focusing on anything, lost in her thoughts.

Chen Mo was very upset but couldn't say anything. Zhou Yaping represents the government; how could he dare to oppose the government? That would be like asking for trouble. But sitting here like a convict under surveillance was really uncomfortable. "This time, I'll have to trouble Sister Lili. I wonder if she will scold me?" For some reason, when he thought of Sister Lili, the image of Chen Siyao's stunning beauty disappeared from his mind, replaced by the caring and loving big sister next door.

While the two were lost in their thoughts in the interrogation room, the door suddenly knocked, and a woman with a worried look on her face walked in.

"Xiao Mo, Xiao Mo, are you okay? Let me see. Why did they arrest you? You scared me to death!" The woman rushed to Chen Mo, who was sitting like a convict, and hugged him, rubbing his hair with her hands, her face filled with urgency.

"Uh..." Before Chen Mo could speak, he felt half of his body enveloped in a fragrant and soft embrace. The scent that filled his nose made him swallow his words and take a few deep breaths. It was so fragrant and soft.

However, this moment of enjoyment lasted only a few seconds. He saw a beautiful face, but her eyes were red, clearly from crying.

"Sister Lili, I'm fine!" Chen Mo, who had been thinking about how soft Sister Lili's body was, immediately discarded his dirty thoughts and quickly reassured her, "I'm just assisting with the investigation. We can leave now!"

"Are you really okay?" Sun Lili was genuinely scared. She was afraid that something might happen to Chen Mo, which would be a great betrayal of his parents. Although Chen Mo's parents disappeared without a word, Sun Lili saw herself as Chen Mo's guardian, feeling that his parents had entrusted him to her. If anything happened to him, she wouldn't know how to face his parents when they returned.

Chen Mo smiled, feeling very guilty. He felt he owed Sister Lili another favor. To reassure her, he put on a relaxed expression and was about to say a few more comforting words when someone else spoke first.

"Lili?" A surprised voice came from the desk, full of astonishment.

Sun Lili, hearing her name, turned around and was stunned. She looked at Zhou Yaping, who was now dressed like a lady, and exclaimed, "Yaping, why are you here too?"

"Uh, well, I'm here for the same reason as you!" Zhou Yaping's face was flustered as she quickly explained, unable to imagine that Sun Lili and Chen Mo were related.

Chen Mo heard everything clearly and noticed the fleeting awkwardness and panic on Zhou Yaping's face. He was very surprised, wondering why Zhou Yaping was hiding her identity from Sister Lili. Was she afraid that Sister Lili would ask her for help?

"Ah, are you here to pick someone up too?" Sun Lili asked in surprise. She hadn't expected to run into an acquaintance here. Zhou Yaping was a regular at her bar, and they had become familiar over time. What impressed her most was Zhou Yaping's violent and wild nature. Standing in the dance floor of the bar, she was like a madwoman, moving her body in a very seductive manner. However, no man who frequented the bar dared to make a move on Zhou Yaping.

Sun Lili and Zhou Yaping became close because of an incident where Sun Lili had been harassed. Although it happened a long time ago, Sun Lili still remembered it vividly. Zhou Yaping kicked a man over 180 pounds out of the bar and took care of the harassers with just a few punches and kicks. This left a deep impression on Sun Lili, and they became even closer, almost like good friends.
