Chapter 100

Before I knew it, the days had passed, and it was the day of the entrance ceremony.

The uniform at the Royal Academy consists of a shirt, tie, and vest. Boys wear trousers, and girls wear skirts that reach from the ankles to just below the knees. Instead of a blazer, they wear a cape, which is removed during the summer.

The vest, trousers, skirt, and cape are a dark navy, almost black. The shirt can be any style, but it must be white.

The ties differ by grade: this year’s freshmen have green, sophomores have yellow, juniors have red, seniors have purple, and fifth-year students have blue. When the current fifth-year students graduate and new freshmen arrive, the blue of the graduating fifth-year students will become the blue of the new freshmen.

Shoes can be either dress shoes or boots. I think I’ll wear dress shoes in the summer and boots the rest of the time.

The Kingdom of Rave has more Western elements than Eastern, so I thought the entrance ceremony and the start of the new semester would be in the summer, but it’s the same as in Japan. Incidentally, the fiscal year-end and such are also the same as in Japan. This world is a mix of Eastern and Western elements.

Leaving the dormitory at neither an early nor late time, I headed to the auditorium on the lower school campus, where a considerable number of students were already checking in.

We checked in and entered the auditorium, taking our seats among the freshmen.

"I wonder who ended up being the representative of the freshmen."

Ah, don’t remind me of something I’d forgotten.

"Whoever it is, it doesn’t matter."

Izzy answered Theo’s words with a huff.

"That’s true, but I’m curious about who it is. After all, they were so bold in their parting words."

"I’m not interested."

"Hey, what about you, Al?"

Oh no, don’t pass it to me.

"Whoever it is, it’s fine. I think Theo’s suggestion would be beneficial for the future, though."

After all, if the ancestors who rebuilt the Royal Academy didn’t want to introduce noble elements into the learning environment, they would have made it new.

In the end, the freshmen representative’s speech was canceled. Wow, that was a bold move.

In the end, it was probably for the best. If they were concerned about the nobles’ pride, it would be better to eliminate the cause of such conflicts.

After the entrance ceremony, we checked the class lists posted next to the school building.

This Royal Academy, unlike typical fantasy school settings, does not divide classes by academic performance. Instead, they are evenly distributed. The class names are not A, B, C, but rather the names of flowers. How elegant!

There are five classes: Rose, Lily, Camellia, Osmanthus, and Nemophila.

I, Nebel, and Hilt are in Osmanthus, Izzy, Theo, Rüdiger, and Kurt are in Lily, and Hetta and Otilie are in Camellia. We were divided quite neatly.

Of course, we would be divided. If we were all in the same class, the teacher’s stomach would probably have a hole in it.

There are no class changes in the lower school, so we will have the same classmates for two years.

"Brother and I in different classes..."

"There’s nothing we can do. We are siblings, after all."

When I spoke to Izzy, who was dejected after seeing the class assignments, he looked surprised.

"Eh? Siblings can’t be in the same class...?"

"Well, it’s not an absolute rule, but probably. Also, since we are royalty, it would be a big burden on the teachers if we were all in the same class. Let’s have lunch together during lunch break, okay?"

"Okay!"

After cheering up Izzy, we moved to our respective classes.

When I entered the classroom, of course, I was stared at.

A few of the students I had met at tea parties came to greet me, and I returned their greetings and took my seat.

Today, we only heard detailed explanations from the homeroom teacher about the class schedule and other matters. Formal classes will start tomorrow. Then, we had self-introductions and decided on class representatives and committee members.

As expected, the teacher suggested my name for the representative, and her thoughts were clear: "You’ll do it, right? You want to, right? You’ll take it, right?" So I declined.

The reason was that if I, a royal, were to make a proposal, people might be considerate or hesitant, leading to a room full of yes-men. There would be a risk of not having a proper exchange of opinions. I explained that people might give up on thinking for themselves, thinking that I would take care of it. I added that such matters should be handled by those who are willing and want to do it.

If it weren’t known that I am royalty, I wouldn’t have been averse to taking on the role of representative, but since it’s known that I am the first prince, it wouldn’t be appropriate to put me in that position. In such cases, my role should be that of an observer, and I should only speak up if there is no consensus or if the discussion is not cooperative.

When I proposed a volunteer and had those interested raise their hands, a few did, so I decided by drawing lots with marked strings.

Honestly, I came here to enjoy a carefree school life. Where did the education that fosters independence go?

With the freshmen representative issue and the class representative being pushed on me, it seems like I’m being saddled with troublesome tasks. I should keep a detailed diary of events in the school.

After school, while waiting for Izzy and the others to return together, I told them about this. It seems Izzy was also almost chosen as the class representative.

Thanks to Izzy’s comment that being a prince and a class representative don’t go together, it was decided on someone else, but Theo was laughing about it the whole time and didn’t help at all, which made Izzy pout.

"Because, you know, Izzy is right, but the truth is, if you became the representative, you wouldn’t be able to play with Al after school, and that was obvious."

Izzy glared at Theo, who was laughing uncontrollably.

"Then, it would have been better if Theo had been the representative."

"No way. If I took on that role, I wouldn’t be able to play with you guys."

Although Izzy was initially aggressive towards Theo, they seem to have become quite close.

But Theo, if you tease Izzy too much, he might start to dislike you, so be careful.
